The Isles lie at the threshold of the New World, colonized two hundred years ago by the far-reaching Empire.
Sofia, the governor’s daughter, seeks to remedy the suffering dealt by Imperial power. Dayo, a ruthless pirate, seeks revenge for the subjugation of the islands she calls home. The two cross paths and Dayo forces Sofia to interrogate the hierarchy of the society she was raised in and the mask she must wear to fit within it.
When Sofia goes missing, the governor tightens his fist around the throat of the Isles’ incipient rebellion. On her path for retribution Dayo’s rage threatens to consume her, and Sofia must choose between the familiarity of her gilded cage or risk everything she’s ever known for the chance at freedom.
